our history

IMG 2235 (1)

A family owned and  operated company, Sports Stop was started in 1982 in Mason, Michigan.  Originally called "Mid-Michigan Athletics", the name was changed to Sports Stop in 1986.

In 1995 we opened a second location in beautiful, downtown Grand Ledge.  By 2002, Sports Stop had outgrown the screen printing area and a production warehouse was needed.  Built in Grand Ledge,  "Contractors Printing" specializes in Wholesale Screen/Silk Printing.

In 2008, the Sports Stop began offering custom vinyl lettering, window & vehicle graphics, banners & signs. Sports Stop is also an ASI dealer of promotional products, with access to over 750,000 items!

2014 was an exciting year of growth for Sports Stop. Opening our third location in downtown St. Johns, MI has allowed us to serve another great community and many more schools, customers, groups, businesses and more. Also in 2014, Sports Stop added Crown Trophy to its stores. Customers can now order an exclusive line of trophies, medals, awards, plaques, and MUCH more! We truly are a one-stop shop with this addition to our product line.

Today, Sports Stop Sportswear is very excited to continue to grow and to serve our customers with the highest quality of service. We are proud to move into the 21st century and offer an exciting on-line experience that will allow customers the ability to request quotes and set up their own on-line Team Store, allowing their fans to purchase branded merchandise without having to set up their own physical location.

Sports Stop has been in business for almost 40 years serving you, the customer. We believe that customer service MUST come first!  Our knowledgeable and experienced staff is ready to help you with your next order!

Kevin and Vicki Schafer are the owners of Sports Stop. Kevin started his Screen Printing career back in 1991 working for the previous owner. They stayed friends throughout the years and when the previous owner was ready to retire he reached out to Kevin to see if he was interested in purchasing the business. Kevin jumped at the chance!  He was always very excited to be part of the community and help with the needs of the customers. He loved seeing his designs, customization out in the community and wanted to build something to be proud of for his children. In February of 2013, Kevin and his wife Vicki purchased the business. They continue to strive to improve the business and provide a valuable service to the communities they love.
